-Eu pretendo me firmar na equipe.

Warne questions move to axe Rajasthan Royals

Shane Warne, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals team for the first three seasons of the IPL, has questioned the league’s governing council’s move to remove his side ahead of the fourth edition of the tournament

ESPNcricinfo staff20-Oct-2010Shane Warne, the Rajasthan Royals captain for the first three seasons of the IPL, has questioned the league’s governing council’s move to scrap his side ahead of the fourth edition. The IPL governing council had ejected the Rajasthan and Punjab franchises on charges of transgression of shareholding and ownership norms, but Warne asked whether there were other reasons behind the expulsion.”Is it [the ejection] because the franchises have done something wrong or is there something sinister behind it,” Warne wrote in his personal blog. “Is there an ulterior motive? To me the IPL must be transparent, open, honest, and, above all, fair to all teams! They need to treat them equally; no teacher’s pets!”All of the owners and investors showed a lot of faith and goodwill in the BCCI from the outset. They trusted them to deliver on the massive predictions that led to the franchises being sold at figures never heard of in cricket. With the IPL exceeding all expectations, on all fronts, I find it staggering that the IPL has decided to throw 2 teams out,” Warne wrote.Warne was also critical of the suggestion that Rajasthan did not have the best interests of the game in mind, citing examples of several of his team-mates who have gone on to represent their countries on the back of IPL success.

Spurs target multiple signings by Jan 31st

Tottenham Hotspur was at least three additions before transfer deadline day on January 31st…

What’s the word?

That’s according to ever-reliable Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel, who delivered an exciting claim to GIVEMESPORT this week.

“My understanding is that Conte wants a new right wing-back, he wants a new striker to supplement [Harry] Kane and a central midfielder,” he said. “Whether they can do all of those, I’m not sure they will, but that’s what they’re aiming for.”

One name heavily linked with the north London outfit has been Adama Traore, who fits the bill as their potential new right wing-back, though Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly knocked back Spurs’ initial offer of £15m this week.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites could look to seal a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie now, rather than the summer, when he’s out of contract at the San Siro.

Hugely exciting news

Spurs remain unbeaten under the Italian in the Premier League, which already displays the sort of magic he’s been able to pull off at Hotspur Way. However, he needs to be backed to truly elevate the club to the next level.

There have already been fears behind-the-scenes that he could walk should he not get such financial support during the transfer window. Not only is Conte dealing with injuries but largely, they lack the strength in depth that those in the top four possess.

The former Chelsea boss seemingly doesn’t trust summer signing Emerson Royal at right wing-back, particularly in the final third, so it’s easy to see why they are targeting Traore, who on his day is “unplayable” in the final third, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

And whilst the north Londoners are well-stocked in the engine room, it’s believed that Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli are free to leave and there isn’t much quality behind the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skip anyway.

[snack-amp-story url = “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-news-transfer-gossip-rumours-conte-paratici-levy-premier-league” title=”Read the latest Spurs news, transfer updates and much, much more!”]

As talented as he is, it’s rather telling that the 21-year-old gem has walked straight into the starting XI after a loan spell in the Championship last season.

Then there is the striker issue – it’s a catch-22 for Spurs. They need an alternative to Kane but no one in their right mind will want to play second fiddle to him. Although, there’s a chance that Conte reverts to his title-winning tactics at Inter Milan, where he played two up top.

Either way, this exciting revelation from Mokbel should leave much of the Lilywhites faithful absolutely buzzing heading into the final ten days of the transfer window.

It’s time for chairman Daniel Levy to open the chequebook. They now have a world-class manager capable of giving this club the silverware they are desperately craving but he needs to be backed, starting with this current window.

Aston Villa: Fans react to Luis Suarez update

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has ‘called’ former Liverpool forward Luis Suarez ahead of a possible summer swoop.

That’s according to journalist Gerard Romero, and, as to be expected, the update has received plenty of interaction from Villa supporters on social media.

Romero, who has over 300,000 Twitter followers, had previously shared details of an offer from Villa, with Suarez apparently turning down approaches from Palmeiras, Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro and a Saudi Arabian side to focus on a move to the Midlands.

He’s now added that Gerrard has ‘called’ Suarez ‘for the summer’, with the 34-year-old into his last six months on his Atletico Madrid contract.

Gerrard’s former Reds teammate will turn 35 on Monday, but it seems as if a return to the Premier League to reunite with Gerrard and possibly Philippe Coutinho could be on the cards.

Villa fans react

@villareport relayed Romero’s update regarding Suarez on Twitter. This is what these Villa fans had to say in reply, with one labelling a possible move as ‘incredible’.

Graham Onions injury worse than feared

Graham Onions faces an extended period on the sidelines after the back injury which forced him to leave the Bangladesh tour proved to be more serious that first thought. He now has a battle to be fit for Bangladesh’s return visit with the series starting at the end of May.The ECB had asked Durham to take Onions, who is a centrally contracted player, with them to Abu Dhabi for their floodlit match against MCC but he will now remain in England for further treatment and is unlikely to make the start of Durham’s Championship defence on April 15.”He came back from Bangladesh with a back injury, which they initially thought was a minor complaint,” Geoff Cook, the Durham coach, told the . “X-rays, though, have shown it is a bit more serious and he has gone for another set of scans. He may be out for a month, he may be out for a month or two.””We have not been able to identify the exact cause of the problem,” Cook added. “He had another scan over the weekend and we are waiting for the results. It is disappointing he probably won’t be fit for the start of the season, especially for Graham as he has international aspirations. I am sure it is also a concern for England because they were starting to pull a bowling group together.”Will Smith, the Durham captain, had earlier told Cricinfo he hoped to have Onions available for the start of the season but now it appears he won’t have the luxury of the added firepower during the opening weeks of the summer. Smith, though, believes Onions has a key part to play in England’s bowling attack.”When he did play I don’t think he did a great deal wrong and was unlucky not to play the last Test in South Africa and he has done himself proud this winter,” he said. “The more we see him the better for us, of course, but for Graham’s career I would love to see him playing for England as much as he can.”It has been a difficult few months for Onions after he was surprisingly left out of the final Test against South Africa, at Johannesburg, when the management felt he was fatigued. This was despite him having bowling impressively, but without luck, during the first three Tests and twice surviving the last over at Centurion and Cape Town to secure thrilling draws. With James Anderson rested for the tour of Bangladesh he had been earmarked for a recall, but arrived for the trip with his back problem and when it didn’t improve ahead of the first Test at Chittagong he was sent home.Meanwhile, Onions’ county team-mate Liam Plunkett will leave Bangladesh a day early after experience discomfort in his elbow. He will be assessed back in England and may yet link up with Durham in Abu Dhabi for the MCC match which starts on March 29. Plunkett’s winter has been spent on the sidelines with just one international appearance in the third one-day against Bangladesh.

Emerson at risk from Spurs axe vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte makes an early return to his old stomping ground as his side take on Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash this evening.

It’s the second successive season that the north London outfit are competing for a place in the final, whilst it offers the Italian a genuine chance at securing his first piece of silverware for the Lilywhites.

Spurs have already seen off a trio of Premier League teams on their route to tonight’s encounter, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and capital city rivals West Ham United.

Conte will be buoyed by plenty of confidence heading into kick-off with his side unbeaten in the Premier League under his stewardship. Meanwhile, the Champions of Europe have hit a bump in their season, winning just one of their last five.

At the weekend, Spurs moved to within touching distance of the top four after defeating fellow north Londoners Watford by a solitary goal and whilst it was three points, they will need to vastly improve to defeat Chelsea over two legs.

It leaves the 52-year-old with plenty to ponder in terms of team selection, especially as his side faces Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday before the return leg against Chelsea and then the small matter of the real north London derby a week Sunday.

One player who struggled to have much influence against the struggling Hornets was right wing-back, Emerson Royal. If he plays the same, then Thomas Tuchel’s frontline could well bully him on their way to success at Stamford Bridge this evening.

‘No-one was allowed more space and time in the final third but the Brazilian put in a succession of poor crosses. You couldn’t escape the feeling that Watford knew he wasn’t much of a threat,’ wrote The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick in his post-match ratings column, where he graded the Brazilian as Tottenham’s worst player on the day.

Per WhoScored, Chelsea’s favoured wing to attack is his side, with 18% of their total shots coming from the left flank (16% on the right).

He is likely to be up against Marcos Alonso, who has proven to be one of Tuchel’s major outlets this season, having created an average of 1.5 key passes per game, as well as managing 1.3 shots from left wing-back per outing too.

Conte cannot afford the £62k-per-week Emerson to have another mare against his former club and he will need to vastly improve at both ends of the pitch if he’s to help steer Spurs into the final.

As such, the Italian may want to be ruthless in his decision-making and axe the £25m-rated former Barcelona star, who was once dubbed “incredible” by those in and around the club, this evening.

AND in other news, Spurs could finally replace Christian Eriksen by signing “incredible” £5m beast once dubbed “one of the best”…
