Doubts need to be allayed nearly every day in the IPL, but Ajinkya Rahane made a good start to his captaincy stint at Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 56 off 31, but KKR failed to capitalise on the breathtaking partnership between him and Sunil Narine. Put in, they were 107 for 2 in ten overs when Narine was dismissed for 44 off 26 but added only a further 67 in the second half. The death overs went at under a run a ball.Krunal Pandya led the comeback of Royal Challengers Bengaluru with the wickets of Rahane, Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer in an overall analysis of 4-0-29-3. Suyash Sharma, the former KKR player who got off to a poor start, made a big contribution in his final over with the wicket of Andre Russell with a wrong’un.The drying up of the runs in the end was not too different to how Josh Hazlewood forced KKR into a slow start. The first three overs brought just nine runs and the wicket of Quinton de Kock. The new ball stopped a little and went a little up and down.Once Rahane got started with a gift on the leg side, the next seven overs produced 98 runs. Rahane was brutal, putting a low price on his wicket and taking risks every time he could. Narine went from 1 off eight to score 43 off the next 18 balls he faced. He even tried a bouncer in a spell in which he kept changing the pace often. Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Champions League campaign later this evening as they prepare to welcome Spanish side Villarreal to North London.
The Lilywhites beat West Ham United 3-0 in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Saturday, thanks to goals from Micky van de Ven, Pape Matar Sarr, and Lucas Bergval.
Thomas Frank will have to make at least one change to his starting line-up for this clash with Villarreal, though, because Mathys Tel was not included in the squad for the Champions League.
The former Bayern Munich forward started in the number nine role for Spurs against the Hammers at the weekend, but failed to register a shot on target or a chance created for his side, per Sofascore.
This means that he may well have been dropped from the starting XI even if he had been included in the Champions League squad. Either way, he will not be involved this evening.
Interestingly, the player selected by Frank to replace Tel in the team may have to face off against former Tottenham central defender Juan Foyth tonight.
How Juan Foyth has fared since leaving Spurs
The Argentina international joined Spurs from Estudiantes LP in 2017 and only played 32 times in all competitions before his permanent move to Villarreal in the summer of 2021, after spending time on loan with the Spanish side the season before that, per Transfermarkt.
Foyth did not have much of an impact on the pitch for the club, playing just 16 matches in the Premier League in total, but Villarreal did pay £13m to sign him permanently from them.
At the time of writing (16/09/2025), Transfermarkt value the central defender at roughly £12.9m. This suggests that Spurs and Villarreal got good value out of that deal, as he has not significantly improved or declined in the last few seasons.
Foyth, who scored against Real Madrid back in March, has found a home in Spain, playing 139 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal to date, per Transfermarkt, and appears to be settled since moving on from England.
The Argentine central defender started 17 of his 19 appearances in LaLiga for Villarreal during the 2024/25 campaign, but he was not shy of making the odd mistake.

As you can see in the table above, Foyth made three errors that led to shots or goals for the opposition, and his team only kept five clean sheets in his 19 outings.
This shows that Spurs can get joy out of their former defender if they put pressure on him and put a team out that can consistently test him with balls into the box and in behind the Villarreal backline.

Why Richarlison should start for Spurs
Richarlison should come into the team because he is a striker who has the physical and technical attributes to totally embarrass Foyth if the Argentine defender is not at his best.
In terms of being able to test the centre-back physically, the Brazilian forward is a willing runner who can stretch play by running the channels and making darts in behind to cause problems for the entire backline.
The centre-forward has also won 2.3 aerial duels per game, at a success rate of 45%, per Sofascore, which shows that he can hold his own in the air against physical Premier League defenders.
Richarlison is far from just a physical lump who will cause Foyth problems with his running and pure power, though, because he can also be very effective with the ball at his feet when at his best.
The former Everton and Watford attacker won the club’s Goal of the Month award for August, for example, with his stunning strike against Burnley on the opening day.
Richarlison has scored two goals and provided one assist in three starts for Spurs so far this season in the Premier League, per Sofascore, which shows that he has had a strong start to the campaign in front of goal.
In fact, his form over the last 365 days suggests that he has all the tools and form to cause real issues for Foyth in this Champions League clash this evening.

Richarlison was once described as a “goalmouth monster” by Ange Postecoglou. These statistics back that claim from the former Spurs manager up, as the striker has outperformed his xG over the last year.
The Brazilian forward is efficient in front of goal and can punish opposition defenders when they make mistakes, which is why he could embarrass Foyth if the former Tottenham man makes any ‘errors’ this evening.
Richarlison is a striker with the finishing quality to turn ‘errors that led to shots’ into ‘errors that led to goals’. Russell Martin is on the hunt for something that can help kick-start Rangers’ season and ensure that his tenure in Scotland isn’t a black spot on his resume.
Near the bottom of the Scottish Premiership and having failed to qualify for the Champions League, the highlights of Rangers’ season so far have come in the Scottish League Cup. Ahead of the Cup win against Hibernian, Martin described what a positive result could mean for the team: “I think it is an amazing opportunity for us to come through this period as a squad, to grow through it and to be so strong from it, and hopefully at that point everyone will come together, we just need to win football matches.”
The 2-0 victory and the reintroduction of Nicolas Raskin into the first team could provide a much-needed boost, and the opportunity to knock Celtic out in the next round could bring something of a feel-good feeling to the team.
However, the side is still in desperate need of goals, and the 49ers group appear to have their eye on a youngster who could help Rangers with their goal scoring in the long term.
Rangers make first approach for Mexican youngster
The 49ers have their eyes on the Mexican league as they’re showing interest in a youngster from title contenders Cruz Azul. This comes in the form of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Amaury Morales.
The youngster’s appearances this season have been sporadic, but when given a chance, he has shown hints at why he is highly touted. In the Leagues Cup, when he was given a full hour to play, he helped his team by providing an assist when Cruz Azul were 2-0 down. His team then went on to score an equaliser and knock Colorado out on penalties.
Reports from Mexico, via Sport Witness, have indicated Rangers’ interest in the youngster isn’t just speculative, and they have made a first approach to Cruz Azul. The youngster’s contract lasts until 2029, and he is currently valued at approximately £1.85 million.
Rangers aren’t the only club interested in Morales, and Spanish side Espanyol have also been linked, although only the Scottish side are reported to have made contact. Rangers have a pre-existing relationship with Cruz Azul, as they loaned Carlos Peña to them back in 2018.
Big tournament for Morales
For the moment, Rangers will continue to monitor Morales with the hopes he’s given more chances to shine like he did against Colorado. Rangers fans will get a chance to see him at the international level as he will represent the Mexico U20’s at the Chile World Cup, where he will be competing with talented youngsters from Brazil, Morocco and Spain.
This will likely provide the Rangers scouts with a chance to see Morales’ potential, but with the calibre of nations in his group, he may end the tournament on the radar of a number of European clubs.
If things don’t turn around for Martin following the Hibs victory, and if the next few months see Morales receive more game time, then it’s possible that they roll the dice and bring him in during the winter transfer window.

QUAL É ORIGEM DA DÍVIDA?
Segundo o contrato selado entre o Verdão e a WTorre, o clube tem direito a receber percentuais que crescem gradativamente ano a ano do acordo de exploração do estádio. Ou seja, parte das receitas referentes a exploração de áreas da arena, camarotes, realização de shows, locação de cadeiras e até naming rights devem ser direcionadas aos cofres do Alviverde, algo que, segundo o Alviverde, não tem acontecido.
A última vez que a WTorre fez o repasse desses valores foi em junho de 2015, há quase oito anos. Foram apenas sete meses em que o acordo foi cumprido: novembro e dezembro de 2014, e entre janeiro e junho de 2015, com exceção do mês de maio. De lá para cá, o Palmeiras alega nunca mais ter visto os valores. Em 2017, quando o Verdão entrou na Justiça, o valor era de R$ 15 milhões, hoje ele já está em R$ 136 milhões.

ONDE MORA A DIVERGÊNCIA
O Palmeiras entende que a dívida é incontroversa, uma vez que os valores arrecadados pelo Allianz Parque são publicados periodicamente em relatórios da construtora e o contrato da parceria explicita a porcentagem que o clube deve receber dessa quantia. Isso descartaria a necessidade de levar o caso para a Corte Arbitral, onde estão outras discussões de interpretação do contrato, as quais o Verdão concorda que devem ser tratadas nessa esfera.
Pelo lado da WTorre, não há uma negativa sobre a dívida, no entanto a construtora alega que há também valores devidos pelo Palmeiras e que seus débitos não são os R$ 136 milhões requeridos pelo clube. Diferentemente do Alviverde, a gestora do Allianz Parque acredita que esse assunto deveria ser tratado na Corte Arbitral, esfera que foi definida pelas duas partes. Por lá, os assuntos correm em segredo de Justiça e não podem ser comentados publicamente.

Diante desse cenário, a tendência é que novas batalhas judiciais tomem conta do judiciário. Um acordo entre as partes parece bastante distante, pois os entendimentos são completamente diferentes e cada lado tem uma convicção bastante firme do assunto. Por isso, os capítulos na Justiça é que devem mesmo definir quem terá a razão na história.

CAPÍTULOS ANTERIORES
Em 2018, a ação foi extinta pela Justiça, com a justificativa de que o assunto deveria ser tratado com os outros que estavam em discussão na corte arbitral, esfera em que as partes vem buscando acordos por conta das divergências da parceria. Por lá, porém, os temas também não têm andado, paralisando outras questões que não ganham sequência devido a esses entraves judiciais.
Com o argumento de que a WTorre reconhece os valores devidos em seus relatórios, o Palmeiras conseguiu um recurso para que ação fosse executada à parte e viu a Justiça, em segunda instância, dar razão ao clube para executar judicialmente a dívida. O Verdão, que cobrava apenas os valores até 2017, decidiu colocar toda a dívida desde 2015, resultando nos R$ 136 milhões citados acima.
VIROU CASO DE POLÍCIA
No fim, de maio, o delegado titular do 23º Distrito Policial de São Paulo atendeu ao pedido do Palmeiras e abriu inquérito para apurar possíveis crimes de apropriação indébita e de associação criminosa relacionados à gestora do Allianz Parque. Ainda há a solicitação para o bloqueio de bens da empresa e de seus diretores, além da quebra de sigilo bancário da Real Arenas desde novembro de 2014.
EXECUÇÃO DA DÍVIDA? AINDA NÃO…
Em junho, a gestora do estádio foi notificada a quitar os valores devidos ao Verdão e recebeu um prazo de três dias úteis para responder à ordem sob o risco de penhora de bens. No entanto, antes dessa data chegar, a própria Justiça acabou suspendendo a ação acatando a um pedido da Real Arenas de que o tema corre na Câmara de Arbitragem. O juiz do caso alegou precisar mais tempo para analisar a situação.
PEDIDO DE GARANTIA PARA PAGAMENTO
Em meados de julho, outro capítulo da batalha tomou conta do noticiário quando a Justiça atendeu a um pedido do Palmeiras e deu 15 dias para que a construtora mostrasse que teria recursos para pagar a dívida de cobrada pelo clube. Agora em agosto, no entanto, na quarta-feira (9), a Justiça voltou a acatar um pedido da Real Arenas/WTorre e suspendeu a determinação de comprovar capacidade de pagamento do débito.
COMO FUNCIONA O REPASSE DE RECEITAS?

سلطت صحيفة “سبورت” الإسبانية الضوء على الأزمة الأخيرة بين محمد صلاح، لاعب ليفربول ومدربه الهولندي آرني سلوت بسبب مباراة فرانكفورت ضمن منافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وواجه ليفربول نظيره فرانكفورت الألماني يوم الأربعاء، في الجولة الثالثة من مرحلة الدوري لبطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وكان آرني سلوت قد اتخذ قرارًا بجلوس محمد صلاح على دكة البدلاء أمام آينتراخت فرانكفورت للمباراة الثانية على التوالي بدوري أبطال أوروبا، بعد جلوسه أمام جالطة سراي في المباراة السابقة.
ويتعرض الثنائي صلاح وفيرتز لضغوط كبيرة لتقديم أداءٍ مميز، ولكل منهما أسبابه الخاصة، فيرتز لم يُسجل أي هدف للنادي حتى الآن، بينما لم يُضيف أي تمريرة حاسمة بعد مباراة كأس الدرع الخيرية حتى فوز يوم الأربعاء.

Last weekend, Arsenal were accused of not taking the handbrake off. Gabriel Martinelli was the hero as he rescued the Gunners a late 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
But, despite a positive result, the performance was not encouraging. Mikel Arteta’s men set up with a midfield three of Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice, something that meant the tactical make-up of the team was rather one-dimensional.
Against Newcastle United, however, the handbrake was well and truly off and they got what they deserved at St James’ Park, winning 2-1 in last-gasp fashion.
It was a story of three headers. Nick Woltemade, the Toon’s giant new striker, scored the opener but late strikes from Merino and Gabriel Magalhaes ensured that the north Londoners left a famously tough ground with all three points.
That victory means that Arteta’s side move within two points of Liverpool who lost to Crystal Palace in late fashion 24 hours earlier.
Arteta's tactical tweaks make the difference
Last weekend, the Gunners dominated the ball, boasting over 60% of possession, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances against a resolute Man City backline.
Truth be told, chance creation has been one of the key issues for Arteta’s men but the team selection a week on certainly helped them in their quest to score more goals.
While it may have taken 84 minutes until Merino headed home having been introduced as a substitute, it was remarkable that Arsenal hadn’t scored before then.
Whatever you think of Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty decision, the visitors at St James’ could and perhaps should have scored three or four.
Eberechi Eze was denied superbly well, not once but twice, by Nick Pope in the first half who made excellent saves to his right and left-hand sides. Pope was again alert to keep a close-range header from Jurrien Timber at bay in the second half too.
Eze scored in midweek but this was perhaps his most telling performance in an Arsenal shirt since signing from Crystal Palace.

With Martin Odegaard on the bench having only just returned from injury and Ethan Nwaneri omitted from the matchday squad, the Englishman featured in midfield and made a fantastic contribution.
Eze could have scored a couple and he did only generate one key pass but the pockets of space he was getting into and his willingness to shoot were a huge positive for Arteta. The fact he was playing close to Gyokeres also made a big difference.
Whether or not the summer arrival continues to play ahead of Odegaard remains to be seen but in the last two games, he’s certainly staked a claim to do so.
Regardless of Arteta’s most dynamic midfield selection on Sunday, it was still set plays that came to Arsenal’s rescue.
Rice’s inswinging ball from a short corner on the left found Merino who flicked a deft header beyond Pope.
The winning goal certainly wasn’t deft. Gabriel, who was weak and embarrassing for Woltemade’s opener, throwing himself to the floor, certainly didn’t shy away this time.
The Brazilian lept high among a sea of bodies in the 96th minute to meet Odegaard’s corner and head home in dramatic fashion, sparking wild celebrations among the Arsenal players.
What a moment this was for the Gunners but if we’re being brutal in our assessments of proceedings, they do need to make improvements.
That begins with one of their players of the season so far.
Arsenal's Player of the Season could be dropped
This has been a very difficult start to the new campaign for the Londoners who have been to Old Trafford, Anfield, St James’ Park and played Manchester City in their opening six league matches of the campaign.
The performances have been strong but they have not been without their issues. Gyokeres continues to float in and out of games, while Leandro Trossard hasn’t done a lot to convince while starting as a left winger in the last two matches.
In defence, however, it could be time for a change, most notably at left-back. Considering his injury history, Riccardo Calafiori has done well to play six league matches on the bounce.
In fairness, he’s had a really strong opening few weeks of the season, scoring against Manchester United on the opening weekend and registering two assists in the 5-0 win over Leeds United.
So good has the Italian been that one Gunners content creator has even described him as “Arsenal’s Player of the Season so far”. Fair words, really.
Yet, against Newcastle, Calafiori perhaps dropped his worst performance of the season to date, struggling at the back and failing to offer much going forward.
It said a lot that Arteta chose to bring him off at 70 minutes, instead preferring Myles Lewis-Skelly, a player who is certainly more composed in possession. That’s a change that could well be beneficial against West Ham United next week when Arteta’s side will be expected to create plenty of chances.
Lewis-Skelly coming into the team would certainly help with that. The clip below demonstrates his ability to carve open a team with his brilliant vision and passing.
While Cafafiori often resembles something of a raging bull in the final third, he’s not quite as precise. That precision would have been ideal against Newcastle on Sunday.

Indeed, Calafiori only managed one key pass and had two shots off target. From a defensive point of view, he failed to win a single duel and only made one tackle.
While it wasn’t a dreadful display from the Italy international, it showed his limitations in particular game states. Lewis-Skelly, on the other hand, is particularly strong in the duel.
Last term, the teenager was only dribbled past once in the Premier League, the best record of any player to have made at least 15 starts. He also won six duels per 90 minutes, the most of any player in the league.
As a result, there’s certainly a case to be made for Calafiori to be benched for the visit of the Hammers next week.
